Ingredients in the recipe that can be a bit tricky to find

Hi! I buy food for my dog from the frozen or fresh food section in supermarkets, Rekoring and occasionally at a pet shop. Often I can’t find everything I need to follow the recipe in Koda’s Kitchen, and I have to admit I get a bit discouraged. Most recently, I wanted to try a kidney-friendly recipe with pork and saithe, but it turned out that various lamb offal were also included in the recipe. I don’t think this is easily available unless you know a sheep farmer or a butcher. Is it possible to do without this particular ingredient?

  • Hi! Yes, it’s fine to make the recipe without lamb’s liver for a while 😊 Liver is primarily included to provide, amongst other things, vitamin A, which is fat-soluble and stored in the body. Therefore, your dog won’t suffer from a deficiency if they go without liver for a while. The most important thing is that this doesn’t become a permanent solution over a long period without adjustment, because liver and offal provide several micronutrients. A practical tip is to use dried liver when fresh lamb liver is hard to come by—it is often easier to find in pet shops or online: Pala lamb liverhttps://peludoslo.no/products/pala-100-lamb-liver?_pos=1&_sid=f9de97c5b&_ss=r (use "evighetshunden10" for a discount). {{ARTICLE:ingredients:Where to buy ingredients}} {{ARTICLE:the-truth-about-balanced-d…
  • Hi Mette! I’ve ordered fresh/frozen lamb liver from Meny several times. So if you have a Meny store nearby, why not give this a try? They usually come in 500g packs 😊 I’ve also got other organs from there 😊
  • Many thanks for your reply! I’ve managed to get hold of chicken, duck, pork and beef liver without any trouble, but I’ve been unsure whether liver is actually liver :-)
  • Thank you so much! That was a really good tip that I hadn’t thought of 🥰
  • No problem! It took me a while to think of that too, hehe 😅❤️
