The way forward...
Hi😊 Hera has had such severe itching that she developed sores and watery eyes for 2 years. I thought she’d developed an allergy, but even on hypoallergenic food she didn’t get better. I’ve mainly used raw meat, a few berries and cooked vegetables, and as little dry food as possible. Tried a bit of air-dried food. The vet wanted to give her eye drops, but I didn’t want that. Luckily, I found Evighetshunden and took out a subscription straight away; since then, Hera has been on homemade food😊 We have now completed 11 weeks and 4 days on an elimination diet of chicken and sweet potato. 10 weeks on the standard recipe, week 11 with 1 ice cube of pork stock as a supplement, and the last 4 days with 2 ice cubes of pork stock and a little cooked pork. Hera stopped scratching after week 6, but I wanted to carry on to see if her eyes would clear up, and they did😊 They’re now completely dry👍 Her coat has become fantastic and lies just where it should – on her body😊 Her paws have become soft and healthy. Fantastic Saga thinks Hera has leaky gut and that all her problems are due to this. We want to try the pork recipe and are wondering what the best way is to switch to it. Thank you so much, Ayla, for the work you do😊
- Hi Tove! So lovely to hear – and what a fantastic job you’ve done! 😍 It sounds as though Hera is back in balance now. When itching, eyes, coat and paws all return to normal, it’s a clear sign that the body is no longer in a constant state of “alert”. What you’re describing also fits well with what we know about the connection between the gut, the immune system and the skin. Around 70% of the immune system is located in the gut, and when the environment there settles down, we often see precisely these kinds of improvements in the skin, coat and mucous membranes ☘️ In addition, we know that fresh food can contribute to a better microbiome balance, less inflammation and generally better function throughout the body 💪🏼 It is also very common for her to have responded after around 6 weeks –…
- Thank you so much for the tips and advice😊 I forgot to mention that her mental health has also settled down now😊👍
- That's amazing! Do you have a photo of her that I can share in my Instagram story? 🐶🌸
